Today I’m sharing with you 3 key pieces that I’m incorporating into my wardrobe to fall – everything is from Nordstrom, which means you can count on the pieces being well-made (plus shipping & returns are free!). I focused specifically on their in-house brands because the price points are so good.
If you’re not already a member of the Nordy Club, you can sign up for free to earn points towards Nordstrom Notes, which you can spend later on (for example, I had a $40 note in my account that I put towards the items I’m sharing below). Plus, you’ll also get early access to sales & offers, which is great because the best deals on their site tend to sell out quickly! Since I placed my order, some of these items have gone on sale, so the savings are even greater! Read on for my top picks:
THE CROPPED SWEATER
With high-waist styles pretty much taking over the fashion world, cropped sweatshirts, tops & sweaters are also on the rise. If you think cropped styles aren’t for you, I’m here to prove you wrong – I actually think they are MORE versatile & flattering than hip or tunic length sweaters. Here’s why:
- they show off more of the smallest part of your waist, giving you a more defined shape
- you can wear them with skirts, over cami dresses or with high-waisted jeans/pants
- they add interest to your layered looks (because you can see more of the shirt underneath)
This one has a perfectly slouchy fit (so size down if you prefer your sweaters more fitted. I plan on wearing this layered over a crisp white button-down with jeans & booties and layered over a long sleeve striped tee with leggings & sneakers.
But I couldn’t resist pairing it with this pretty floral midi skirt, which just went on sale! I recommend sizing down in the skirt – I ordered my usual size and it was too big through the waist & hips for me. Thankfully, Nordstrom returns are quick & easy, so I was able to order another one in the right size & pick it up curbside at my local store. Other midi skirts worth checking out (that are also marked down): this polka dot pleated style (more prints available here), this bias cut jacquard midi & this graphic patterned skirt.
What I’m wearing:
c/o Leith Turtleneck Sweater, c/o Chelsea28 Midi Skirt,
Steve Madden Boots (similar here or here), c/o Halogen Hoops
THE COZY CARDIGAN
This is my go-to outfit for working from home – there’s nothing better than pieces that basically feel like pajamas, but look cute too! I actually had this cardigan sitting in my cart for a while, so I couldn’t wait for it to arrive. Needless to say, it did not disappoint. I already have plans to wear this again to the pumpkin patch with jeans & over-the-knee boots. If you’re doing casual fall family photos, this would be a great option! But you can definitely edge it up by layering over a bodysuit, adding a belt & pairing with pointed pumps.
What I’m wearing:
c/o BP Buffalo Check Cardigan, c/o Caslon Tee,
c/o Halogen Faux Leather Leggings (another option here),
c/o BP Necklace, Similar Sneakers
THE PLAID BLAZER
This is probably the trendiest item I’m featuring today, but it’s also my favorite too! I know some plaid blazers look a little too much like I borrowed them from your Dad’s closet – plaids can be tricky like that. What I love about this one is that it’s more of a windowpane pattern – so, because it’s a larger scale print, it doesn’t feel as busy/bold. And, let’s be honest, this rust hue just screams fall!
This is a thinner fabric and it’s unlined, which is nice for early fall or for those of you who live in warmer climates. I found it to run true to size – it’s slightly oversized, but not nearly as boxy as other styles I’ve tried. Since I ordered it, sizes have been going in & out of stock…so if you don’t see yours available right now, keep checking back because they have been restocking regularly. I’m keeping an eye on it too and will notify you via Instagram Stories when I see it’s fully stocked again!
I paired it with a simple white tank (which fits & looks like a bodysuit), cropped denim (love the fit of these) & block heel mule sandals (under $30!). Other ways I’d wear this: with this black fitted turtleneck, this matching skirt & these black booties or with this ivory sweater, these off-white jeans & brown loafer mules.
What I’m wearing:
c/o Leith Blazer, c/o BP Tank, c/o STS Blue Jeans,
c/o Caslon Block Heel Mules, c/o Halogen Hoops,
c/o BP Tote, c/o Halogen Necklace
