One of my favorite casual outfits for spring is a striped tee, utility jacket & denim.  I’ve worn this combination for years and it always feels comfortable & easy – when my kids were little, I’d wear it to take them to the park or on a playdate and, when they got older, I’d throw it on for weekend birthday parties, family picnics in the park & long bike rides.  A couple of weeks ago, my daughter came downstairs in the same pairing and said, “I feel very PPF today”.

So, of course, I was drawn to these updated pieces because they’re an elevated & polished version of those basics that I’ve always loved so much.  Though I typically opt for black & white stripes, the neutral colors of this knit top make it even more versatile (in my opinion) + the fringed hem gives it some added interest.

Bar III Utility Jacket

I can’t say enough good things about this jacket, which looks so much more expensive in person.  The fabric has a slight sheen to it & it’s the perfect weight for spring weather.  I found it to be true to size – it would also look great layered over this eyelet top with this denim skirt.  If you’re not a fan of heels (though these are all kinds of amazing), I’d swap them out for these snake-print mules or these espadrille flats for an even more casual feel.

The best part about this look is that everything is on sale now!  Macy’s just launched their huge Friends & Family Event, where you can get 30% off almost everything with code FRIEND + 15% off cosmetics & fragrance through May 5th.  I always feel a bit of pressure when sharing about a sale like this because there are so many great deals & I want to make sure I’m covering all my bases and showing you lots of options.  So, I decided to break down my top picks for you by category to make it a little easier to shop – let me know if you like this type of format or if you prefer for me to organize them by price point.

Another one of my go-to outfits for spring/summer date nights is a flowy top, midi skirt & heels. If you look back through the archives on the blog, you’ll find dozens of looks that follow the same formula.  Satin bias-cut midis are definitely having a moment and I couldn’t resist this chic leopard print style.  This under $50 skirt will transition seamlessly into fall with a chunky knit ivory sweater and heeled booties (this brown suede pair is gorgeous & such a steal!).  Other seasonal pairings that I love are a spring tweed jacket layered over a camisole with silky shorts, a printed blouse with white jeans and block heel sandals or a boat neck top with tie-waist pants & leather slides.
