Summer is officially here! The warm weather is here to stay, my kids are finally out of school & we get to live life at a slightly slower pace (with no sports games, class parties or music lessons to go to). This is my favorite time of year because the days are longer & we end up getting so much more quality family time.
Even though I’m someone who loves to dress up regularly (no occasion needed!), it’s even more important to me to have a closet full of casual pieces that are easy to wear. But, I don’t want to be in tees & shorts every day of the season, so today I’m sharing a few everyday summer styles from Nordstrom‘s exclusive in-house brands that will give your basics a break & take your style up a notch without sacrificing comfort!
I’ve mentioned before that I don’t own many jumpsuits because my proportions make it difficult to find a perfect fit. But, this one is a winner thanks to the smocked back & adjustable straps – I found it to run true to size (don’t size up, even though it’s technically juniors’ sizing). I’m not one to wear bold prints, but something about this tropical pattern felt so fun & festive for summer. I added this woven belt to cinch in my waist even more & create some added interest. You could also layer this over a simple white tee & pair with espadrille sneakers for a sporty vibe.
More throw-on-and-go pieces that are perfect for every day: this smocked midi dress, this tie-waist jumpsuit, this striped knit dress or this button-front dress. Looking for something slightly more polished? Try this wrap dress, this tailored jumpsuit or this printed midi.
What I’m wearing:
c/o BP Leaf Print Jumpsuit, c/o Halogen Woven Leather Belt,
c/o Halogen Wood Hoops, c/o BP. Bangle Bracelet Set,
c/o Halogen Wedge Sandals, c/o Leith Sunglasses,
c/o Nordstrom Raffia Packable Tote
I personally prefer skirts over shorts any day because they’re cooler & they just fit me better overall…but lately it seems like all the styles I’ve found are either too short, too dressy or a midi/maxi. It’s hard to find a great casual day skirt…which is why I was thrilled to come across this one! I love that you can just pull it on & go + the length is just right (you don’t have to worry about exposing too much when you bend over or sit down). This comes in 6 different colors (there’s also a chambray option here), but it does run big – I went down two sizes to get the right fit.
I paired it with this fitted sweater tank, which is super flattering (ordered it in black too!). Just an FYI – the buttons are only decorative & not functional but there are still gaps between them. So, if you’re larger chested, you’ll want to size up to avoid gaping issues. And since I’m all about belts right now, I also added this textured belt to complete the look. I wanted to show you another way to style it that’s slightly more polished, but if you click through the link, you can see how the skirt looks without it (equally as cute either way).
What I’m wearing:
