The Best Skirts For Cold Weather

plaid midi skirt

I tend to wear dresses & skirts a lot less in the winter, mainly due to my body’s inability to tolerate the cold.  But, with our temperatures hovering in a reasonable range (at the moment), I’m taking every opportunity to do so before we dip down below freezing levels.

In my opinion, the best skirts to wear this time of year are midis (bias cut, pleated or ribbed knit) and a-line (faux leather, corduroy, wool-blend or tweed).  You can easily add tights to any of these styles – I just ordered this polka dot pair to wear under dressier pieces (so fun!) and I swear by a fleece-lined pair (like these or these) for those extra chilly days – sometimes I even wear them under my jeans for an added layer of warmth!

This faux wrap midi skirt is so unique and I love the touch of plaid, which is perfectly festive for this time of year – the asymmetric cut gives this a cool modern feel, but the length makes it feel a bit ladylike too.  Other midis I love include this sweater skirt, this leopard skirt & this gorgeous emerald satin midi.  Looking for something a bit shorter? Try this houndstooth print skirt, this tweed skirt, this faux leather skirt or this plaid mini.  See more great affordable options below!
