Fashion and history are one and the same, as they tend to repeat themselves time and time again. Our love for nostalgia and ’90s trends has only continued to grow over the last few months with the resurgence of pleated skirts, chic sweater vests, and tailored everything. With back-to-school time here, we couldn’t help but think about those trends and the delightful times of pressing a button-down shirt for school and figuring out just how much we could roll up our skirts without violating dress code (ah, the good ole days).
Prep school styles have been around since the early days of Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger. While a full-on crew look might be considered out of the question now, uniform-inspired looks are making their way back down the runway. Having dress-code restrictions gone out the window, especially now—it’s the perfect time to go back to those pleasant times. This fall, try refining your look with a few pieces inspired by your old school uniform.
