All opinions are 100% honest & completely my own.
I knew the transition into fall was going to be challenging, but we’ve had so many curve balls thrown our way that it’s taken me longer than I expected to get into a solid work-from-home routine. Between the kids going back to school only part-time to the wildfires forcing us to stay indoors to my husband taking on a new business venture, it’s been pretty chaotic around our house. But, now that we’ve had almost a full month to adjust, I think I’m finally getting into a rhythm that works.
I’ve been working from home for the last 10 years, but now that I’m caring for my dad & managing online learning for my kids, it’s definitely a lot more to juggle than ever before. I’m learning that giving myself structure is the best way for me to succeed & feel like I have some control over the way things play out. Breaking the day into specific task-related time blocks has been a game-changer to help me get everything done without feeling frazzled. Once I came up with this system, I set recurring daily alarms on my phone…so when they go off, I know it’s time to move on to the next block (I even set alarms for things like eating lunch & working out!).
Another thing that has been so helpful for me is actually getting ready each day. It does take some time out of my schedule, but I always end up feeling more productive – it’s really amazing the difference it makes just putting a little effort into your look. At the beginning of quarantine, I know we were all living in sweatshirts & sweatpants, so now it actually feels good to put on more elevated separates & I’ve found some great options recently at Express.
This sweater is basically my favorite piece ever – slouchy, cozy & oh-so-perfect for fall. It’s all the things I’m looking for in a comfy knit – it has an oversized fit, so I definitely recommend sizing down. This is long enough to wear with leggings (or sweats on the weekend!) – comes in 4 colors & would also be so chic paired with a midi skirt & heels for date night.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know my love for Express denim & these jeans are no exception. I actually have been on the hunt for a pair of new gray jeans to replace my “low rise” denim from several years ago and these are exactly what I wanted. They fit more like a jegging, which means they have a good amount of stretch & are more comfortable to wear while working from home because they move with you without stretching out.
More comfy at-home outfits to try:
- this oversized crewneck with these joggers (be sure to size down)
- this soft mock neck dress (so flattering but feels like pajamas!)
- this hooded sweatshirt with these herringbone leggings
- this camel cardigan with this bodysuit & these black jeans
What I’m wearing:

c/o Express Kitten Heel Booties, Express Hoop Earrings
I’m a big fan of this tan + off-white color combo because I think it’s a timeless pairing. This ribbed sweater comes in 6 different colors & is so easy to dress up or down, thanks to the fitted silhouette. Express has so many cute knitwear styles for the new season like this cable knit sweater, this ruched-sleeve crewneck (great for layering!), this balloon-sleeve v-neck & this tunic sweater (perfect for pairing with leggings).
I know white jeans can feel a bit polarizing in the cold weather months, so this ivory denim is the ideal solution because they aren’t as stark as a true white. These have a high waist with more of a mom jean fit (my current favorite) & the raw hem gives them a casual, lived-in feel. I own these mules in two colors now & they are some of my most-worn shoes because they’re comfortable & easy to just slip on & go. Throw on a structured blazer for Zoom calls & you’re all set!
More work-ready looks I love:
- this fringe button cardigan with this tee & these jeans
- this balloon sleeve sweater with these satin joggers
- this puff-sleeve blouse with these high-waisted culottes
- this black cardigan with this camisole & these olive skinny jeans
What I’m wearing:
c/o Express Plaid Blazer, c/o Express Ribbed Sweater,
c/o Express High-Waisted Straight Jeans,
c/o Express Necklace, c/o Express Textured Slides
