This Paris-Based Creative Is Making a Case for "It" Bags of the Early 2000s

Welcome to Style Diaries, a new series where we research the physical manifestations of our closet tours IRL. We're asking friends and tastemakers to show us what they're *actually* wearing during the week and to provide a little insight into their thoughts on the current state of fashion. This week we are speaking with the digital content creator and founder of Les Fleurs Studio, María Bernad. Her style is taking major cues from the '60s mod era and the early 2000s, as she mixes in quirky "elf-like" references for an interesting contrast effect.

What does your style *actually* look like right now?

"I honestly think I'm becoming a little bit more kitsch every day that I'm getting older. I feel the 'I don't care' phrase more than ever."

"For this look, I knew I wanted to wear the dress, and as I said before, I'm really in the mood for short dresses and high boots. The boots are Gucci from the '00s. The dress really popped, and the Loewe flamenco collection has really bright colors, like this coral that matched perfectly! As for the accessories, the dress is upcycled with funny nostalgic references, so I wanted the jewelry to reflect that. It makes me feel like a cross between a teenager and a boss girl."

Do you have a go-to outfit formula, or do you prefer to switch it up when getting dressed?

"I'm always switching up the outfit while I'm getting dressed, adding things, and having fun."

"This look has one of my favorite color combinations—I think I wear it once a week. The pants are probably my favorite silk Loewe pants from seasons ago, and the top I designed and finished this week. It's upcycled organza silk and, since the weather started to warm up, is so light and fresh. I found this vintage Balenciaga bag on The Vintage Bar a few weeks ago and it matched perfectly! The Margiela shoes, honestly, are one of my most comfortable pairs, so I often wear them for a workday. I'm also really in the 'elf' mood—along with my Jupiter rings, these Hank Copenhagen jewelry pieces from their capsule are perfect!"

What energy are you bringing to your ensembles this summer? What are you looking forward to wearing?

"I'm mixing a lot of patterns and fabrics. More and more I'm wearing upcycled pieces, and most of the time these are already mixed because to make them, you need to do 'patchwork,' so I guess I'm wearing a lot of patchwork. Also, I'm loving the short-dress-with-high-boots '60s mood and '00s trends."

"This is my very 'I'm having a glass of wine tonight' outfit mood. It looks like a dress, but it's a two-piece set (the top from Paris Georgia, and the skirt from Mirror Palais). The boots make it more casual, while the scarf makes it more evening-coffee-time, too. The look is very '60s and fits my mood right now."
